India's Golden Triangle & Bhutan’s Natural Beauty
Combine an exploration of the historical sites of Rajasthan with the pristine scenery and culture of Bhutan.
With your guide, get a flavour of the sights and sounds of Bhutan's sleepy capital, Thimphu. This will most likely be the first place you visit in Bhutan and you’ll immediately notice that life here a bit different, with its own unique pace and procedures. Traffic is directed by people rather than traffic lights and the people wear traditional clothing - kora for women and gho for men. Your guide will begin to explain and introduce you to many of the traditions and customs of the country.
En route you might take in the National Memorial Chorten - one of the country’s most iconic monuments, dedicated to World Peace and around which many Bhutanese people circumambulate daily. You might also choose to visit a small wildlife reserve that is home to Bhutan's national animal, the takin (a cross between a goat and a cow). If it's market day you can join the hustle and bustle as farmers from all over the country try to sell their wares. And definitely take a peek into the Changlingmithang stadium – you might catch a round of archery, the national sport, being played.
