Adventure in Bhutan
This holiday includes less road travel, more trekking, and a little adventure — ideal for intrepid couples and families.
This low altitude overnight trek is a great option if you are looking for a bit of adventure in the winter months but aren’t necessarily an experienced trekker. The trek can be adapted to suit different time frames: although it is typically 3 nights, members of the ETG team completed a 2-day version covering around 10 kilometres per day. We mapped the route on an app and recorded the elevation gain, distance and effort that went into it - call if you’d like to know more.
The trek begins in Punakha at the country's longest walking bridge. The ascent takes you through beautiful rhododendron and oak forests and tiny villages where you’ll interact with locals who rarely, if ever, see tourists. Overnight accommodation is in a camp which is set up with beds, warm sleeping bags, cosy blankets and hot water bottles. Picnic lunches are provided en route and dinner and breakfast is served to you in camp. Your personal guide and the trekking guide will be on hand throughout to give you information on the flora and fauna and the local area.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
