Set on the outskirts of Thimphu town in a quiet, serene and secluded environment surrounded by pine forests, Amankora Thimphu is close to the capital’s main sights.
Just a 5-minute drive from the town, in a relaxed and rural setting, the property has white-stone walls, wood, and glass, topped with contemporary wooden furnishings and natural shades. The stone courtyard with Buddhist prayer wheels has an outdoor veranda and fire pit, making for a pleasant place to take in your surroundings, perhaps with a book from the large library. Dine in the wooden double-height dining room and lounge area where delicious Thai and Western food is served.
There are 16 open-plan rooms, designed in style consistent with the other Amankora properties across Bhutan. The idea is to create a sense of familiarity as if you are ‘coming home’ as you travel through the valleys. Rooms feature a plush bed, lounge area and a grand bathroom with a bathtub, double vanities and a rain shower, while the traditional bukhari wood-burning stove is a lovely touch. Out of the window, you’ll find pleasant views of either the landscaped courtyard or the nearby stream and pine forest.
