Our client photography competition winner 2019

by Amelia Curran

We are delighted to announce the winner of the 2019 ETG Photo Competition. Every year our clients up their game. 2019 was no exception. This year’s winners have been selected by travel photographer Damon Wilder, and the standard of entries meant he had a difficult choice to make. However, his vote is in. Warm congratulations to…

Thomas Roux

Whale Shark, The Maldives

Winner: Thomas Roux

Damon says: “I’m a sucker for black and white underwater shots. Whale sharks are amazing creatures and this conveys nicely the sense of awe as the huge creature rises out of the depths towards the surface.”

Thomas says: “On our honeymoon, my wife and I spent all week at the Constance Moofushi Resort trying to convince enough people to sign up for the whale shark tour. We succeeded and we were lucky to encounter three different whale sharks. This shot was from free diving off a boat in the open ocean.” You can see more of Thomas’ photography on his Instagram account.

Angela Clark

Toque Macaque Monkey in Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka

First Runner-Up: Angela Clark

Damon says: “It always amazes me when people talk about how cute monkeys are. Have you seen the size of the fangs on those things? No? Well here you go. Great capture of this not so friendly macaque.”

Angela says: “Whilst on safari in Sri Lanka I had such amazing opportunities of capturing some great photos, and whilst stopping for lunch the monkeys were just so entertaining and fun to photo. This one pretended to threaten us for our food! (Taken using my Nikon D850).”

Nnenna Ilomechina

A monk’s joy spreads, Cambodia

Second runner up: Nnenna Ilomechina

Damon says: “There’s something hilarious going on here. I have no idea what but this photo just makes me want to know more. A lovely intimate shot.”

Nnenna: “Wandering around Angkor Wat, I encountered a monk offering a prayer to a tourist, the object of the prayer was so elated that everyone around, including the monk, could not help but smile deeply…”
