This 3 week holiday takes in the whole of Peninsular Malaysia. From the colonial relics of Malacca to the heritage and street-food of Penang past lush green highlands and ancient rainforests.  You’ll enjoy two separate beach stays too, one on the east coast and one on Langkawi off the west coast. The holiday is privately guided and you’ll stay in excellent accommodation throughout.

Highlights included

  • Strolling along the cobbled streets and marvelling at the relics of old Malacca city
  • Getting absorbed in the diverse colours, flavours and architecture of eclectic Kuala Lumpur.
  • Getting a bird's eye view of the rainforest as you walk through the treetop walkways of Taman Negara National Park.
  • Sipping tea in the hills as you traverse the Cameron Highlands.
  • Pausing to enjoy the beaches at Tanjong Jara and on Langkawi.
  • Discovering the charming heritage and delicious street food of historic Penang.

As with all of our suggested itineraries, we can tailor-make your holiday to suit your budget, style and expectations. Find out about our exclusive ‘Journey Planner’ here.

DAY 1 depart the uk

Depart the UK on your overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Days 2 & 3 Malacca

After your flight arrives, enjoy a welcome by your guide and a private transfer to Malacca, a rich and historical city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The following day is dedicated to discovering Malacca’s most fascinating landmarks: the fortress ruins, the Dutch Square, the Cheng Hoon temple, the Kampung Kling mosque, and the old city.

Day 4 & 5 Kuala Lumpur

Your driver will transfer you to central Kuala Lumpur for a 2 night stay. Whilst in the city you will enjoy a guided walking tour of KL’s many highlights with chance to sample some of its amazing streetfood.

Day 6 & 7 Cameron Highlands

Venture north of Kuala Lumpur into the hills towards the plantations of the Cameron Highlands.

Tea lovers will enjoy exploring the plantations and taking a tasting tour or simply sampling a cup as part of a delicious afternoon tea.  There is chance to go on treks and walks past waterfalls and through quaint villages here too.

DAY  8-9 TAMAN NEGARA

Taman Negara National Park is an ancient tropical rainforest best explored by boat and foot. The 3-hour boat trip along the Tembeling River is followed by a thrilling night jungle walk. A morning trek through the forest is planned for the following day, followed by a leisurely boat cruise along the Tahan River towards the waterfall at Lata Berkoh. Freshwater fish feeding is a popular activity at the Ikan Kelah Fish Santuary, the last stop before returning to the resort.

DAYS 10-12 tanjong jara

Sumptuous Tanjong Jara Resort is your place of abode for the next few nights, and there are plenty of activities and excursions if you wish to take part. Alternatively, do nothing at all and simply relax!

day 13 kota bharu

The journey to Kota Bharu is filled with dramatic coastal scenery and plenty of charming sea towns and Malay villages. You can observe the local residents engaging in activities such as boat building, batik printing, and kite flying. Kota Bharu’s focal point is its thriving Central Market, where you can observe the production and sale of local goods and produce.

 DAY 14 & 15 penang

A 55-minute morning flight takes you directly from Kota Bharu to Penang. Here you'll have 2 days to explore and your stay will include a fascinating heritage walk and a brilliant street food tour.

Day 16 -19 Langkawi

With crystal clear waters, white sand beaches and beautiful lush rainforests, the island of Langkawi provides the perfect place to spend the last few days of your holiday, reflecting on the varied adventures you’ve had. If you still feel like being active, there are rainforest and marine adventures we can arrange here too. You could even take a day or overnight trip to Koh Lipe in Thailand (1 hour away by speedboat).

During the European summer months, the weather is better on the east coast of Malaysia (Tanjong Jara for example) than it is on Langkawi. During this time we would usually suggest changing the holiday to skip Langkawi and spend longer on the east coast. Our travel experts will advise you on the best route and itinerary for your preferred dates.

Day 20 Fly Home

Depart Langkawi for your flight back to the UK
