Bucket List Borneo
Absolutely everything that makes Borneo special combined with unexpected adventures. For travellers who have four weeks to spare.
Celyn Resort offers the most splendid views of majestic Mount Kinabalu from a hilltop near Kota Kinabalu. Here you will find basic, clean, and spacious accommodation, friendly service, and a great base from which to explore the area.
Mount Kinabalu is Southeast Asia’s highest peak, standing more than 4,000 metres above sea level. Whether you’re in it to reach the summit, or you’d just like to explore the area, there are plenty of excursions to take advantage of. Kota Kinabalu and the park are full of winding park trails with oak, bamboo, ferns, and moss-covered trees along the way.
There are 53 rooms in total, covering everything from the entry-level valley and Kinabalu wing rooms through to very spacious villas. For the most exquisite panorama of Mt. Kinabalu, ask us to book a room in the Kinabalu Wing – the mountain views are what make this resort worth a stay.
Here, lodgings are basic and access to the resort is a bit of a challenge on bumpy gravel roads. We would recommend Celyn Resort as a mid-range choice for adventurers hoping to tackle Mt. Kinabalu or wanting to get to know the national park. We wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone needing modern cutting-edge facilities.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
