The Earth Lodge is simple to lodge in a spectacular location deep inside the Ulu Muda Forest Reserve.

Access to the lodge is via an hour and a half longtail boat ride that takes you across the Muda Lake and up the Muda River.

A range of exceptional activities is organised though the lodge, including boat safaris, trekking, caving, tubing and visits to hot springs. Activities and meals are included in the price.

The reserve itself is an area of spectacular beauty and diversity and home to a mesmerising range of flora and fauna. This is real rainforest, so come prepared for the insects and animals that abound in areas of such extreme biodiversity.

Accommodation is in basic, stilted bungalows, each with a private veranda. All rooms have attached bathrooms with cold showers and western commode toilets. Water is pumped from the river and is not suitable for drinking. Mattresses are relatively thin but just about sufficient for a good sleep. There is no mains electricity at the lodge, although power is provided via a small generator in the evenings to provide light and run the fans throughout the property.

The Earth Lodge is a real adventure will appeal to nature enthusiasts who want to experience this remarkable forest and its wildlife up close.

Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!
