First and foremost this is not a hotel but an active field centre where you’ll find researchers and students amongst the visitors. Service is thus patchy as the property is not set up in the traditional resort sense. However, as a base, this is a fantastic place from which to get deep into the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s greatest rainforests and see a wonderful array of wildlife.
The resthouse rooms are fairly basic but comfortable with fans and en-suite facilities. The meals on site are simple but good and they are served in the shared cafeteria, a hub for guests and researchers to swap stories from their days (and nights) exploring the beautiful 130 million-year-old Borneo rainforest.
