Paganakan Dii is an eco-resort providing a tranquil, natural place to relax and unwind while gaining insight into Borneo’s rich rainforests. It suits those wanting an authentic experience with some modern comforts (not including Wi-Fi!)

The resort is well-positioned to explore the Kinabatangan River, the second-longest river in Malaysia with a plethora of surrounding wildlife. From cruising down the river and spotting proboscis monkeys, gibbons and orangutans to dabbling in a spot of birdwatching there is lots to see and do.

Paganakan Dii itself is composed of a large central communal pavilion with surrounding satellite longhouses and stilt huts for bedrooms. The longhouses offer dormitory style accommodation with 12 adults per longhouse with a shared bathroom. The Duplex stilt rooms provide a little more comfort and privacy. They feature panelled wooden walls, a homely seating area, balconies, a skylight and a double bed with a nearby bunkbed. Each has en suite, air-conditioning and fans.

The communal pavilion offers al fresco dining from recycled cable spools and wooden box seats, quite an experience! On the top floor is a cushioned deck where you can enjoy a sundowner and listen to music.

All in all, this is a comfortable and authentic place to stay while exploring the wildlife of Sabah along the Kinabatangan River.

Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!
