After immigration formalities take place, the ride to Pailin begins, winding 17km through the lovely Chour Phnom Kravanh foothills. Enjoy the gently unfolding terrain and the mountain views. Pailin is well known for ruby mining, and was the site where former Khmer Rouge leaders resided.

 17km Ride

Day 5  Pailin to Battambang

The ride begins through country Cambodia heading east, with verdant fruit orchards and fields bursting with peanuts, corn, mangoes, and rice paddies. Red dirt roads lead past the mountains in Cardamom, a wild and rugged area with unforgettable mountain scenery. You get the feeling of venturing into the unknown as you cross bridges and streams. After lunch, visit Wat Phnom Sampeau, a temple perched upon a dramatic limestone outcrop. Sleepy and charming Battambang is there to be explored, with its faded colonial structures from times gone by. The ride is tough, with potholes and unpaved roads, but a support vehicle is always on-hand.

 85km Ride

Day 6 Battambang to Siem Reap

Today’s tour depends on water levels, and if it goes well, you will cross the great lake (Tonle Sap) by boat. Cruise past mystical sunken forests and charismatic floating villages as you make your way towards Siem Reap.

Day 7 Angkor Complex

Today is a highlight - the grand circuit of the Angkor Complex, including the Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor Thom, Baphoun, the Bayon, the Terrace of the Leper King, and the South Gate. Following a picnic lunch, the exploration continues, with a cycle towards Ta Prohm, Ta Keo, and a return to picturesque Siem Reap. There is ample time to hop off the bike and explore each site, and your temple guide is armed with cultural and historical information. The view at sunset from Phnom Bakheng is magnificent.

 45km Ride

Day 8 Angkor Complex

The grand circuit is accessed from a quieter entrance today, and you will travel through the complex using tranquil back roads. The ride continues into the wonderful Cambodian countryside. Ride past quaint villages, schools, and greet the locals along the way to Banteay Srei and Kbal Spean (also known as the River of 1,000 Lingas). Enjoy a hike to the peak, where you can see intricate carvings in the riverbed. After a picnic lunch, you will transfer to Siem Reap by bus.

45km Ride

Day 9 Siem Reap to Kampong Thom

Transfer to Kampong Thom and visit intriguing Sambor Prey Kuk, a site full of wonderful ancient temples waiting to be explored by bike. Sambor Prey Kuk was built in the 7th century, making it one of the oldest sites in the country. Formerly the capital city of the Chenla Empire, it’s grand old age is apparent - mostly covered in beautiful vegetation. The 8km path through the temples leads you to a picnic lunch by the Stung Sen River in wooden huts, lovingly prepared by local Cambodians. Following this memorable meal, a country ride leads to the vehicle transfer to Phnom Penh.

In rural Cambodian heartland, you will see workers in the rice paddies and tending their animals as you ride. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset from above.

Experience the scenery around Kep as you cycle along the coastline, and stop at the unique cave temple at Phnom Chhnork along the way to Kampot.

35km Ride

Day 14 Kampot to Sihanounkville

An early rise is required to face today’s ride, which is tough but rewarding. The scenery will distract you, with the wonderful Bokor mountain and coastal landscapes complete with quaint fishing villages and rice fields. 60km later you turn south towards Sihanounkville, in pursuit of some beach relaxation. If you’re fit, you might find the shore just in time for a beachside lunch.
