Most people visit Cambodia for 3 nights, pack in the temples and fly off again. Spending a little longer in this kingdom will allow you to go beyond the well-known sights and make the most of some excellent accommodation too. This suggested holiday is both culturally insightful and holistically relaxing, with a private island escape and minimal travel time.

A quick 45-minute flight connects the Angkorian temples of Siem Reap with the white-sand beaches of the southern coast. As the flight home from the coast takes you via Bangkok, we’ve suggested bookending your adventure with a stay at the city's finest luxury oasis, a lovely riverside hotel close to some of the most important historic sites.

Along the way, you will be in the company of knowledgeable, friendly local guides with whom you’ll get to understand the history and ways of life of each location, as well as discover the iconic and lesser-known sights.

Highlights include:

  • Stay in 3 luxurious yet completely unique properties - each a tranquil hideaway in its own particular environment, with great food, service, swimming pools and spa treatments as standard
  • Have time to explore the lesser-visited temples of the Angkor region as well as the more famous ones
  • Watch the sun rise over Tonle Sap lake and see its floating villages come to life
  • Weave through the canals of Bangkok to get a unique insight into local life before eating your way through the city on a food tour

As with all our holidays, the itinerary is just a starting point. We can tailor it completely to suit your budget, pace and style. To find out more about how this suggested itinerary could inspire your holiday, fill in the form below.

DAY 1 DEPART UK

Depart the UK on your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

DAYS 2-6 SIEM REAP

On arrival in Siem Reap, you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your home for the next five days: a sophisticated boutique hotel on a quiet street within a stone’s throw of the main restaurants of this small city.

Your stay will be slow-paced and tranquil, with plenty of time to explore the ancient wonders of Angkor with your guide, as well as some lesser-visited sites. Ease into your trip with a visit to Ta Prohm, with its tree trunks snaking in and out of the ruins, as well as Banteay Srei and Angkor Thom, both covered in intricate carvings. A real highlight is watching the sun rise over Tonle Sap lake from your private local boat before weaving through a floating village and watching as it comes to life. You’ll be taken to some lesser-visited temples as well as the magnificent Angkor Wat. The afternoon is a great time to visit as it’s much quieter then.

There is time to get off-the-beaten-track in the countryside too and plenty of time at leisure for you to simply enjoy your hotel and its excellent facilities.

DAYS 7-11 KRABEY ISLAND

You will be transferred to Siem Reap airport for the 45-minute flight to Sihanoukville in Cambodia’s south. From here it’s a short boat ride to Six Senses Krabey Island. This peaceful private island is covered in jungle and, during your five-night stay, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your modern villa and private pool. Your stay here can be as active or relaxed as you wish, with indulgent spa treatments on offer as well as watersports, cooking classes, a lap pool, visits to the nearby islands, an open-air cinema and several restaurants and bars to dine in.

DAYS 12-14 BANGKOK

Today you will be transferred back to Sihanoukville airport for the 1-hour flight to the energetic city of Bangkok, where you will be for the last part of your holiday. Your local guide will meet you and transfer you to the spectacular Siam Hotel, an oasis from the hustle and bustle on the banks of the Chao Phraya river.

Spend your first morning lazing by the riverside swimming pool and enjoying the spa and delicious Thai restaurant. Your guide will take you out in the afternoon for a leisurely tour of the famous old street areas of Bangkok, travelling by tuk-tuk and ferry. The following day, enjoy a guided walk through the colourful flower market before boarding a boat and heading deep into the Klongs (canals) of Bangkok to get a glimpse of riverside temples and life along the waterways. You’ll discover some of the city’s highlights by day and in the evening, venture out on a culinary food tour, sampling an array of must-try dishes around the eateries, restaurants and street food stands.

DAY 15 FLY HOME

You will be transferred to Bangkok airport for your flight home.

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, two-week tip-inclusive holidays start from roughly £4,000 per adult. We offer substantial child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
