The Plantation opened in 2012 in a fantastic location near the Royal Palace in the heart of a fashionable yet historic area of Phnom Penh. The location and "urban retreat" style make it easy to see why this hotel became popular as soon as it opened.
The hotel is part of an established boutique hotel chain in Cambodia whose focus is on service, style and location. This hotel is a little more modern than its sister hotel Pavilion Phnom Penh and encapsulates modern Phnom Penh with its take on contemporary modern Asian design. Expect large open spaces, two guest pools (one is bright red), a veranda housing local art and beautiful guest areas including a wellness spa.
The rooms vary in size and location. They are simple yet comfortable with all the amenities you would expect of a small hotel. The stunning two-bedroom rooftop suite is the best room in the hotel and comparable in price to the lowest room categories at more expensive resorts.
The Plantations owners already know how to make a great hotel so even though this is new, it is a great all-round modern base for a stay in the capital. It is not recommended for young families as there are no interconnecting rooms.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
