Info : Sofitel Angkor
The Sofitel Phokeethra Country Club is one of a kind in Siem Reap. It is the only resort to combine so many specialised pursuits in one venture; a world-class five star hotel, signature spa and championship standard golf course.
With a massive 238 superior and deluxe rooms and suites, the resort is suited to those who prefer big properties. Cambodian influences can be felt throughout the design and decoration; however this is a more internationally themed property. Luxurious and distinguished, it has all the trimmings expected from the Sofitel brand. Rooms are large and beautifully furnished with all modern amenities.
The resort has an excellent free-form swimming pool with a separate childrens pool. The area around has sun loungers and massage salas amidst lush gardens and lawns. The Serpent Pool bar has seating in and out of the water. The Angkor Spa offers international therapies and massages in blissfully comfortable and relaxed surroundings.
There are eight restaurants and bars around the hotel serving fine dining cuisine to light snacks and coffees to cocktails. The hotel has superb conference and meeting facilities and can cater for an event of almost any size.
The Country Club aims to be the premier private club in the region. More detailed information about the golf course and club membership are available upon request.
The Sofitel is perhaps the most international of all properties in the area and will appeal to a highly specialised market. Ideal for business travellers, golf fans or families with diverse interests and travel agendas.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.

Of course Angkor Wat and temples are out of this world and Nokia our young guide was very informative and considerate enough to find us shade occasionally and to rest. He was the youngest in a rice farming family, longing to find himself a lady to settle down.
