Amankora Gangtey, Gangtey Bhutan
Set in the stunning surrounds of Gangtey’s pine tree lined mountain slopes in the Phobjikha Valley lies the opulent Amankora Gangtey. With top quality service, food and and facilities, the property is in keeping with the other Amankoras around Bhutan.
The property rests on a forested knoll with strikingly scenic views across the valley and the 16th Century Gangtey Goemba monastery. Phobijikha Valley is home to a flock of over 300 endangered black-neck cranes and the Amankora is in an ideal location for those wanting to visit them in the winter months. The valley is home to many day walks and treks and, after exploring the area, it's a treat to indulge in the hotel's array of spa treatments. A real highlight of the property is the outdoor dining on the lawn overlooking the village below and the surrounding forests. The restaurant offers both Bhutanese and Western cuisines where guests can also enjoy the vista from the floor to ceiling windows.
Only 8 suites make up the property making it quite intimate and they all include amazing views across the valley. The open plan bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, have a calming feel and feature wooden flooring and furnishing, central bathtubs and double vanities.
The exquisite views across the valley, high class service and luxurious rooms make the Gangtey Lodge worth every penny if you’re looking to splurge.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
