Highlights of East India
Contrasts of Kolkata, the waterways of the Sunderbans, the Buddhist culture of Sikkim and the mighty Himalayas in one incredible journey.
Kalimpong is famous across India for flower power – it provides about 80 per cent of the country’s gladioli, as well as many orchids. This morning you will explore some of the colourful nurseries and small markets where the flowers are sold before visiting the lovely Zang Dog Palri Fo-Brang monastery, which sits on top of Durpin Dara one of two hills connected by a ridge on which the town of Kalimpong stands. From here you can enjoy amazing views of the valley and surrounding hills. Next stop are the Tharpa Choling monastery and Thongsa Gompa Bhutanese monastery.
