Ranakpur Temple, Ranakpur

You will spend the morning at the amazing Jain temples at Ranakpur. Built in the 15th century, the temples' marble walls and ceilings are adorned with intricate carvings of icons, nymphs and serpents and there are said to be more than 1,444 marble pillars across the complex, each with its own unique design. Guides are not allowed to guide within the temple itself but there is an excellent audio tour. Lunch and a leisurely afternoon is at a fabulous colonial-style lodge, where it a lovely lunch will be served beneath the cooling branches of an old Banyan Tree.
