Highlights of East India
Contrasts of Kolkata, the waterways of the Sunderbans, the Buddhist culture of Sikkim and the mighty Himalayas in one incredible journey.
An early morning start for your full day exploration of the Sundarbans. Enjoy a picnic-style breakfast on the water as you cruise through winding creeks and dense green forests. Your first stop will be the Dobanke caged walkway where you can get up close to view the wildlife from the canopy. Next you will visit the Spotted Deer Rehabilitation Centre to see the work the rangers are doing to preserve this unique breed. Once you are back on the boat, cruise through the Matla Sea Face – a point in the creek network where you can see out to the Bay of Bengal – before heading back to camp to relax and freshen up. In the afternoon you will have the chance to explore some of the local villages in the area on foot with your guide. You can interact with the local community at a typical Sundarbans settlement to get a better understanding of the local art, culture and how the people coexist with wild tigers in such difficult terrain.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
