Kerala Encompassed
Experience the best of Kerala over three weeks, from the backwaters to cities, from plantations to beaches.
The Ginger House is just as much a museum as it is a hotel, as the name implies. This quirky boutique property is filled with history and fascinating antiques, and believe it or not, everything you see is for sale!
Set right on the water’s edge looking out to Willingdon Island, it is just a stone’s throw from the Spice Markets and sights of Mattancherry. A short tuk-tuk ride away, you’ll find Fort Cochin and the famous Chinese fishing nets. Wander through the gardens, admire the art pieces, or relax by the infinity pool facing out to the waterways. The restaurant serves excellent food, and while the service may not be incredibly slick, the staff are professional and aim to provide attention to detail.
Each one of the nine, very eclectic rooms are unique and filled with character and comforts. The high wooden ceilings, traditional touches and architecture have been inspired by artefacts from across South India.
Please note that there are no twin rooms available, so this is a place ideally suited to couples wanting a ‘different’ experience. If you’re looking for a unique boutique hotel, the Ginger House makes for a fascinating place to stay in Cochin. And why not see if you want to purchase one of the thousands of artefacts on sale.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
