This lovely old haveli in the heart of Amritsar is run by the Mehra family and has a fascinating history spanning 200 years. Accustomed to hosting plenty of celebrities over the centuries, Ranjit Svaasa still welcomes VIPs regularly. It’s a boutique hotel with a homely, welcoming feel to it. Come here for the royal treatment, beautiful surroundings, and friendly reception.
In the Indian state of Punjab, Amritsar is a must-see, admired as a centre for Sikhism and of course, home to the magnificent and very famous Golden Temple. This awe-inspiring temple is found in the older part of the city, just one part of a larger complex of gurdwara but certainly the centre of attention. Its shining dome features more than 700 kilograms of glittering gold. Once you’ve explored the old city of Amritsar, you can book a treatment in the spa at Ranjit Svaasa, eat and drink at one of the lovely spots given over to it, or explore the exquisite art gallery on-site.
There are only nineteen rooms and suites at Ranjit Svaasa, which gives the place an intimate feel. Each room has its character, but all feature private terraces or courtyards. The premium rooms are much more spacious, and all rooms feel warm and luxuriously appointed.
All in all, Ranjit Svaasa is well situated, characterful, fascinating, and beautiful. It’s the perfect size for a boutique stay in Amritsar: large enough to feel like a 'proper' hotel experience but small enough to still feel welcoming and intimate. Highly recommended.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
