Rolling green lawns and colourful flowerbeds surround the cottages here, making the Savoy a picturesque and graceful choice for a stay in Ooty. The whole hotel is steeped in British heritage and history, all of which is apparent in the detail of both the interior and the landscaped gardens. Come here for old English comforts and great family-friendly facilities.
In Tamil Nadu, Ooty is a cool and pleasant hill station full of British landscaped estates and vibrant green rolling hills. Thanks to its fresh mountain air, lush green plantations and exceptional tea and coffee, Ooty is a popular tourist destination and a welcome escape from the crowds and heat. Outside of the city centre, Mudulamai Forest Sanctuary is a great place to get lost in the foliage. At the Savoy, there are plenty of sports, games, and activities on offer, particularly suitable for families with kids. The English bar, dining room, and lounge are warm and inviting.
40 rooms are situated in Colonial style cottages, constructed in the 19th century. They are decorated in an olde-worlde style with fireplaces, heaters, and plenty of beautiful flowers in the gardens surrounding the cottages. Families will appreciate the two bedroom suites. Whether you’d call it charming Colonial style or slightly dated, a stay at the Savoy is a bit like going to visit Granny!
The hotel is only a kilometre or two from the main train station and city centre, making it ideal for exploring Ooty on foot. Come here to stay in charming quarters, keep the kids amused, and to enjoy the Colonial flair and a great cup of tea.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
The Fairlawn Hotel in Calcutta was exotic and great fun and The Glenburn Tea Esatate Hotel in Darjeeling the most luxurious and charming we've ever experienced. The food and the mountain location were truly beautiful.
