Tree of Life Jaagir Lodge,
India, Uttar Pradesh
Info : Tree of Life Jaagir Lodge
This small converted hunting lodge was previously used by British Governors and is situated in a vast sugar cane plantation. It’s your gateway to Dudhwa national park, one of the least explored in India, but with one of the largest tiger populations.
The hotel feels homely with antique furnishings, beautiful patterned wall papers and oodles of history and charm. There is a homestay feel to the hotel where you might share stories and meals with other guests. The library bar is a perfect spot to enjoy a drink after a day out exploring by jeep, or sit out and read a book on the veranda. There is lovely fresh water swimming pool with a view of the forest behind.
There is 6 bedrooms in the main house with an eclectic style, expect vibrant soft furnishings, high ceilings and every room has a living area. The luxury suites are massive and look out onto a private courtyard or terrace. There are some “Jhaalas” or luxury villas, dotted throughout the 5 acre site. They have a bedroom, sitting room and are suited for a bit more privacy and peacefulness.
All round this is an ideal base for the exploration of Dudhwa National Park. It might not have all the mod cons of a luxury hotel; like TV’s in the rooms, but it feels very comfortable in an understated homely way.
Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!
