Journey East Across Java & Bali
Travel overland through Java to Bali taking in the contrasting cultures and scenery of the exotic neighbouring islands.
The volcanic region of the Ijen Plateau is clearly dominated by the impressive cones of the Ijen, Merapi and Raung volcanoes, offering a spectacular skyline to those who visit. Swathed in rainforest, coffee plantation and rice paddies this isolated region has breath-taking scenery. Due to its poor road access the area remains relatively untouched by tourism but those who make the effort to travel the area are duly rewarded with unforgettable views.
The tour starts with an early morning wake up for those wanting to explore the awesome beauty of Java’s wondrous volcano Mt. Ijen. This day trip explores the area’s rural villages, coffee and clove plantations and Javanese rainforest before culminating in the splendour of the vibrant turquoise sulphur lake, surrounded by sheer crater walls at 2883m above sea level. With panoramic views overlooking the plateau, Mt Ijen is truly one of Indonesia’s hidden gems.
