Sulawesi Explorer
Discover the astounding wildlife, nature and culture of the amazing island of Sulawesi on this 18 day holiday.
A small town in the highlands of the north, Tomohon is surrounded by three volcanoes, making the land extremely fertile and climate cool. Home to abundant birdlife, lush forests, beautiful flowers, scenic treks and interesting markets, there are many experiences on offer in the area. Pay a visit to the laidback local food and flower markets, selling not only an array of fresh produce, but a surprising variety of exotic animals, which can be quite confronting for tourists. Bird watching excursions can be arranged, or perhaps you may choose to venture with your guide to the peculiar colour changing Lake Linow. Its colour changes daily due to the combination of sulfur and water and can begin as a clear emerald green before changing to a milky blue. You can reach Mount Mahawu’s crater edge by vehicle and a stair case and if you visit as the sun rises, you’ll likely be greeted with gorgeous panoramic views over the surrounding volcanic landscape in the soft morning light. There is a short 30 minute trek around the edge of the crater for the more adventurous, for clearer site of the sulphuric crater lake.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively with you.
