Essential Bali and Lombok
Bespoke Holiday Itinerary / Experience Tour

Info : Essential Bali and Lombok

The neighbouring islands of Bali and Lombok are easily combined. With a range of great quality accommodation in even its most rural areas, we think Bali is the better of the two for experiencing culture and countryside without compromising on creature comforts. Lombok however, has some really special beach hotels, and its coastal areas are far less congested than Bali’s. A holiday combining the exotic sights and sounds of Bali with the idyllic white-sand beaches of Lombok really is a winning combination.

Highlights include:

  • Experience the countryside, temples and scenery of Sideman and Ubud in Bali
  • Take a speedboat across the Lombok Strait, with a backdrop of dramatic volcanoes
  • Stay at a unique off-the-beaten-track beach-camp on Lombok
  • Relax on the idyllic Mangsit Beach on the remote northwest coast of Lombok

As with all of our suggested itineraries, we can tailor-make your holiday to suit your budget, style and expectations. Find out about our exclusive Journey Planner here.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Essential Bali and Lombok

Depart the UK.

On arrival in Bali your guide and driver will meet you for the transfer to you hotel in Ubud.

During your time in Ubud, you will get an insider's perspective on the artwork, architecture, food and rural scenery that make this region so special. There will also be a unique private walking tour through the beautiful countryside guided by a local Balinese Priest who will offer a great insight into Balinese nature, religion and culture. There is also the option of a downhill cycle ride from Mount Batur through lush tropical paddy fields, coffee plantations and local villages.

DAys 5 & 6  SIDEMAN (BALI)

Continue east with your guide to the picturesque hills of East Bali. Here you’ll reach a lovely retreat where you can totally relax and get a feel for authentic Balinese life.

You can opt to laze around the resort and take in the views, pool and spa or you might choose a more active stay. Activities on offer include a trek to nearby Pura Bukit which is home to traditional Ikat weavers, cycling through the foothills of Mount Agung or ambling through the remarkably beautiful landscape of rice paddy terraces, volcanic valleys, lush tropical forest and mountain terrain.

Head down to the coast and take a speedboat to the neighbouring island of Lombok (if preferred, you can fly). The boat journey takes 90 minutes. Upon arrival, transfer across the island to your off-the-beaten-track beach camp, it has a great beach and activities here include trekking in the forest, snorkelling and cycling, and this is a great retreat for those looking for something a little different.

Head back across to the west coast of Lombok where you’ll spend 4 full days. This side of Lombok is a good contrast to the east. Here you’ll get views over to Bali with fantastic sunsets, a choice of places to eat and the option to take snorkelling trips around the Gili islands.

Transfer to Lombok airport for your flight home.

Customer Feedback
Six great and amazingly different hotels - we would happily recommend any of them. We had three excellent guides as well. And we lost track of the number of "Wow" moments. In addition to the obvious, including Paramban, Borobodur and Bromo, we would add our tour of the markets + rickshaw ride in Malang, and having coffee with Mr Rai at the Agung Rai Gallery in Bali. Our guide in Bali, Otok (?) was excellent at explaining local culture, and we left an offering at his family shrine.
