DAY 3 – BROMO

DAY 4 – BROMO

Following an early rise you will be taken to view the spectacular sunrise over the crest of the Bromo volcano. After a short pony ride you will climb to the peak of Bromo, where you can take in the magnificent view of its crater lake and the surrounding mountains. After time to relax back at the hotel, you will go for a stunning walk around the mountain as the sun sets over this breath-taking scenery.

DAY 5 – MALANG

Drive through the dramatic volcanic peaks of East Java towards your hotel in Malang.

DAY 6 – MALANG

Your guide will take you on a tour of Malang to see the colonial architecture, various art centres, the botanical gardens and a range of local temples. Malang is refreshingly cool and is surrounded by fantastic countryside.

DAY 7 – YOGYAKARTA

Leave Malang by car and drive through beautiful countryside via the small plantation villages of Pujon Batu, where you will have a chance to stop and take in the scenery and explore the villages to Jombang. Here you will take a train west through the stunning central mountains towards Yogyakarta. You will be accompanied by your tour guide, while your driver can take your luggage to Yogyakarta. You will be met at the train station and taken to your hotel, where you luggage will be dropped.

DAY 8 – YOGYAKARTA

Today you will visit the Kraton, the traditional home of the sultan and the royal court, and the elaborate two story mansion retreat known as the Water Palace. In the afternoon you will leave the city and visit the magnificent tenth century Hindu temple, Prambanan. While it is not as well restored as Borobudur, it is a magnificent piece of architecture consisting of 8 main and 8 minor temples on a central courtyard, surrounded by 244 small temples in the outer compound. You will stay at the temple until the sun sets, when on a clear day the temple will appear as a silhouette against the backdrop of a sky of bright reds, pale blues and wisps of white clouds.

DAY 9 – BOROBUDUR

From Yogoyakarta you will be transferred west to your hotel amongst the stunning setting around Borobudur temple, with the rest of the day to explore the surrounding area or relax in your scenic hotel.

DAY 10 – BOROBUDUR

Today you will rise before the sun rises and be taken by your guide to climb Borobudur in order to reach the top in time to witness the majestic sun rise over Mount Merapi and the forested plateau to the east. Built in the 8th century and constructed from two million individual bits of stone, the Buddhist temple is made of 6 square terraces with three circular terraces and 72 small stupas on top. The temple is covered by delicately sculptured reliefs representing the life of Buddha and the Buddhist belief in kharma and reincarnation. After the temple you will have the choice of going back the hotel to recoup or to spend the afternoon visiting a range of smaller temples in the area.

DAY 11 – KARIMUNJAWA ISLANDS

From Borobudur you will make your way to the beautiful archipelago of Karimunjawa, around 80km north of the mainland. A collection of 27 islands, this Robinson Crusoe paradise has many similarities with The Maldives. With a small local fishing population, the islands are part of a marine national park and offer extensive coral reefs and a huge range of snorkelling and dive spots, that will be shared with virtually no one. You will be staying on an idyllic island that is home to a peaceful luxury resort and nothing else. You will travel by car to Semarang then by airplane to the islands.

DAYS 12, 13 and 14 – KARIMINJAWA ISLANDS

Enjoy three days of leisure to enjoy the beautiful setting of the Kariminjawa islands.

DAY 15 – JAKARTA

Leave paradise and fly to the bustling mega city of Jakarta, where you will head to your hotel in the heart of the city.

DAY 16 – FLY HOME

Transfer by vehicle to Jakarta airport for your flight home with Garuda Indonesia. Alternatively we can tailor your tour so that you continue on to one of the neighbouring islands.

Customer Feedback
The stand out experiences all involved some locals: the walk in the Bali rice fields with a guide, the trip to the Borobudur eco-village and ride in a horse cart which also charmingly had us playing the Gamelan with local kids.
