Stops will include the Sarawak Museum, the Mughal-style pink State mosque and a sunset cruise along the Sarawak River.

It’s a relatively long drive this morning to join the ship at Tayan on the Kapuas River in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). You’ll board around lunch time and enjoy a delicious meal before sailing to Sanggau, a bustling river port where you can enjoy a guided stroll.

Your ship - the RV Katha Pandaw, has sixteen state rooms and panoramic decks from which to take in the fantastic scenery and enjoy quality dining. The crew include a range of guides who will lead you on your adventure.

Days 6 –11  Borneo River Adventure with Pandaw Cruises

Your journey will take you along the upper part of one of the world’s longest rivers from Tayan up to Lanjak (the cruise runs in reverse on alternate weeks). Your river expedition will cover over 500km navigating the Denau Sentarum system of lakes, a national park which connects to the river. This is a pioneering expedition as this part of the world is rarely visited and the scenery is marvellous. The whole area is a perfect habitat for an array of wildlife and birdlife such as orangutans, proboscis monkeys, crocodiles and more.

As you journey along the river there will be chance to explore jungle waterfalls and hot springs, tribal villages, honey farms and the world’s second largest rock monolith (the largest is Uluru). You’ll stop to discover remote river towns, to spot rare birds and explore local fishing villages – always keeping watch for wildlife.

During your stay in Mulu you’ll take a guided trek to Lang Cave – one of the most expansive cave passages in the world with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. There is also time to explore Deer Cave, inhabited by a colony of thousands of bats and to take a night-time trek through the rainforest, keeping watch for nocturnal animals. Customer Feedback
Our guide (Jun) in Jogjakarta and Borobudur was exceptionally good - excellent with our two boys (aged 5 and 3), really friendly and informative and added a lot of value. Our boat guide (Jack) was amazing too - he was brilliant with the boys, really thought about making the most of the 3 days, very flexible and really did everything possible to make sure we all had a great time.
