Alamayah, Sumba Island

Alamayah is a boutique hideaway nestled in a secluded hamlet in southwest Sumba, offering an enchanting escape for couples seeking tranquillity. Embraced by expansive and rugged countryside and a mere stroll away from the beach, this retreat provides privacy and ambiance. 

Immersed in the allure of coconut trees with ocean vistas, Alamayah blends the natural splendour of the surroundings with indulgent amenities. While unwinding and indulging in rejuvenating massages are a highlight, the property caters to more adventurous guests by offering complimentary surfboards, mountain bikes, and snorkelling gear, encouraging exploration of the picturesque environs. 

One of the standout features of Alamayah is its intimate scale, comprising only six suites, each exquisitely designed with a unique touch while maintaining a consistent theme of simple, traditional decor. This establishment effortlessly embodies the concept of "barefoot luxury." All rooms are spacious, featuring a terrace with views of either the lush jungle or the shimmering ocean.  

Given its secluded location amidst the countryside, do not expect an abundance of local restaurants and bars within proximity. However, the onsite restaurant offers a lovely farm-to-table breakfast and a diverse and reasonably priced menu throughout the day. 

The resort is approximately 2.5 hour's drive from Tambolaka airport and ideal for a one-stop visit to Sumba, however we recommend combining with at least one other location on the island.
