Java & The Lesser Sunda Islands
Explore the heartland of Java then head east for four days sailing around Komodo before reaching Bali & Lombok.
Yogyakarta is located in the middle of Java Island and is considered the cultural centre of Java and, indeed, Indonesia. The D’Omah’s location and design reflect this rich and diverse culture and put guests in the perfect position to explore it.
Yogyakarta, often called Jogja, is known for Javanese art and culture, with traditions like batik, ballet, and puppet shows still prevalent in the city. As well as being near the city and its vibrant street life and arts scene, D’Omah is also just a short drive away from two religious UNESCO sites – Borobudur, one of the largest Buddhist temples in the world, and Prambanan, a complex of towering Hindu temples built in the 9th century.â¯Guests can book tours to both sites through the hotel, as well as local activities like cycling trips, cooking classes, clay pot making, and city tours.
If arriving by air, the 45-minute drive leads visitors through lush countryside and small, traditional villages until reaching D'Omah, where they’ll find a collection of traditional wooden buildings, landscaped tropical gardens, and swimming pools sprawling over 5 hectares of land. All the resort’s 19 rooms are at ground level, creating a village-style atmosphere. Room types vary in size, some with private plunge pools or jacuzzies, the largest being the d’Omah Villas, with two or three bedrooms and extensive grounds – perfect for families and groups. Interiors are distinctly Javanese and feature traditional wooden furniture and batik fabrics to immerse guests in their surroundings.
The D’Omah is a peaceful and fitting choice for anyone visiting Yogyakarta. We recommend staying at least two nights to ensure time to rest, relax in the tranquil gardens and swimming pools, and explore the local sights.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
