Hidden Gems of Java and Bali
A fresh perspective on the magical islands of Java and Bali. Discover volcanoes, remote beaches and exotic culture.
The Komaneka resort at Tanggayuda is set back upon a hill above the town of Ubud, overlooking the Oos river valley and surrounding tropical vegetation. This secluded hilltop location allows guests to unwind in peace while remaining close to local attractions and sites.
The resort has twenty suites and villas, with views of either the pool or the paddy fields. The Courtyard Pool Villas and the Valley View Villas have private plunge pools for guests to cool off in, and all the accommodation has a private veranda and open-air pavilions. Traditionally crafted furnishings, thatched roofs and local materials create an exotic feel throughout the hotel, while rich, polished teak and local volcanic stone add elegance and luxury to the décor of the rooms. Villas range in size from one bedroom to family size.
Komaneka’s infinity pool, which overlooks the tropical environment that surrounds the hotel, is an excellent place for guests to relax after a day’s sightseeing, as is the hotel’s spa which offers a vast array of traditional treatments.
Komaneka has three restaurants: The Terrace Café, Warung Kudus Restaurant and the Garden Terrace, and there is also the option of in-villa dining on your private terrace. However, the hotel also arranges a regular shuttle if you wish to eat out in Ubud - just fifteen minutes away.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
