Laos Encompassed
The ultimate tour of Laos, 3 weeks taking in the remarkable contrasts of each of it's extraordinary regions
You’ll begin the day on a walking tour with your guide at the temple of Wat Pa Non, from where you will journey along the Mekong River, stopping at temples and an old French-colonial era church. Along the way, you will meet villagers and observe how they make traditional rice baskets and fish traps from bamboo.
Cross the river on a traditional style motorised boat to Don Daeng island and visit a local village for a lovely home-cooked lunch before exploring the island by bicycle, pedaling through the rice fields before taking the boat back to the mainland.
Back in Champasak you’ll learn about the history of the town which is scattered with French colonial buildings, alongside more traditional wooden structures and stilt houses. Your last stop in the afternoon is the Sisumang Buddha, a huge sitting image of Buddha located on the remains of a Pre-Angkorian temple.
