This itinerary makes it surprisingly easy to take in the best of six Southeast Asian countries in one holiday. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore each have distinctive food, architecture, scenery, history, and culture, and this holiday samples it all. This itinerary works beautifully as a journey.  The charming hotels, and, our unique signature experiences will ensure you get an authentic flavour of the region and a sense of its fascinating contrasts.

Highlights include

  • Experience Angkor Wat in Cambodia away from the crowds from a unique and special perspective
  • Treating your tastebuds to a culinary extravaganza on a selection of food tours. From Vietnamese Pho to Cambodian Fish Amok via Pad Thai, Malaysian Dim Sum, and Singapore Noodles
  • Feeling like you’ve stepped back in time while discovering magical Luang Prabang
  • Being immersed in the fascinating history that has shaped the culture and architecture of Penang

As with all of our suggested itineraries, we can tailor-make your holiday to suit your budget, style, and expectations. Find out about our exclusive ‘Journey Planner’ here.

Day 1 Depart the UK

Depart the UK on your overnight flight to Vietnam.

Day 2 -4 Hanoi (Vietnam)

On arrival in Hanoi, your private guide and driver will meet you for the short transfer to your hotel. During your stay in Vietnam’s capital, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive journey through the historical and cultural heart of the city with your expert local guide. Discover Hanoi’s remarkable Ethnology Museum and the Temple of Literature, combined with a more off-beat insider's visit to some lesser-known nooks and crannies and a cyclo ride back to your hotel.  During your stay, you’ll also have time to embark on a guided street-food tour with a local food expert who will help you to savour and appreciate the best tastes of Vietnam.

Day 5-7 Luang Prabang (Laos)

After a one hour flight from Hanoi, you’ll arrive in Luang Prabang where your Laos guide and driver will greet you and take you to check-in at your hotel.

Mysterious and evocative of a bygone age, Luang Prabang is a picturesque and historic town surrounded by a backdrop of mountains and river gorges. You’ll get to experience the charm firsthand with your guide, either on foot or by bicycle. Highlights include watching the early morning procession of saffron-robed monks who weave through the streets to collect alms, a river journey to the quirky Pak Ou Cave and a visit to the turquoise pools of the Kuang Sii Waterfalls. Your guide will take you in a tour to suit you, with plenty of time factored in to relax and simply soak up the magical atmosphere of this sleepy but wonderful city.

Days 8-11 Siem Reap & Angkor (Cambodia)

Another short local flight will take you south to Siem Reap, the gateway to The Temples of Angkor which are one of Southeast Asia’s most incredible landmarks.

Your Cambodian guide and driver will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel; you’ll then have the choice of free time to relax or a sunset visit to one of the quieter Angkor temples.

Excluding your arrival day, you’ll have three full days here. Enjoy a dawn visit to Angkor Wat itself; we recommend beginning your tour before it even gets light to dodge the crowds and see this marvellous structure in a fairytale-like scene, but the day is flexible. You can visit later if you prefer. Other highlights include the ancient royal city of Angkor Thom and the forest-clad Ta Prohm among other less well-known temples. Our excursions here are carefully timed and constructed to ensure you get the most out of your visit and enjoy some relaxation time too. Beyond the temples, Siem Reap has some lovely restaurants to enjoy, and you’ll also have a chance to visit the villages on the lake of Tonle Sap.

 Day 12-14 Bangkok (Thailand)

The flight from Siem Reap to Bangkok takes under an hour, and on arrival, your guide and driver will be waiting to whizz you into the energetic Thai capital. This urban city is a melting pot of contrasts, from the seemingly lawless traffic on the roads to the languid long-tail boats along the river.  During your stay, you’ll get a glimpse of traditional local life as you travel with your guide deep into the cities (klongs) canals, to the picturesque flower markets and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn).  Local lunches are factored in - as well as relaxation time to ensure you’re well rested for activities such as an evening food tour of Chinatown that takes in some delicious local dishes in an array of different locations.

To contrast with the traditional side of Bangkok and its rural surrounds, you’ll spend the last evening enjoying a cocktail at one of the more modern rooftop bars with panoramic views of the whole city.

Day 15-17 Penang (Malaysia)

A quick flight takes you south to Malaysia and the island of Penang. The mix of colonial and indigenous architecture, varied street food and thriving art scene make for a charming and rewarding destination.

There will be two full days exploring Penang, which is a treasure trove of architecture, artisans and delicious food. A cycle tour of rural parts of the island is included, as is a guided tour of Georgetown that will give you a sense of the city's heritage and the fascinating history of the island.

Day 18 & 19 Singapore

Hop down from Penang to Singapore by air for your final stop in Southeast Asia. Singapore is arguably the most modern of the cities you’ve visited and is the perfect place to end your holiday and complete your picture of the region's variety.

During your stay, you’ll spend a full day exploring with your guide and driver. Take a cruise along the Singapore River, visit the Botanical gardens with their beautiful orchids, learn to slurp Singapore noodles with your guide and, last but not least,  you can’t leave Singapore without sampling a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel.

Day 20 Fly Home

Depart Singapore for your overnight flight back to the UK. Alternatively, this holiday can be changed to fit your requirements, whether it’s to omit a country you’ve visited before or to extend your stay in the others call us today to discuss.

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, our holidays typically cost between £4,000 and £6,000 per adult depending on trip length and time of year as well as the hotels and flights involved. We offer child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
