Luang Say Residence , Luang Prabang

This superb luxury hotel is in a lovely peaceful spot just outside of town and oozes stylish French-colonial charm.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink, and in particular, we highly recommend a drink in the 1861 bar, which feels just like a quaint French bistro. La Belle Epoque restaurant serves simple yet delicious food from around Southeast Asia and has a lovely veranda that looks out over the hotel grounds.

There is also a large swimming pool which is a lovely space to relax and cool off after a day of exploring Luang Prabang. The hotel itself is located about 5 minutes away from downtown Luang Prabang, so it’s a real oasis of calm yet never too far from restaurants, cultural sites and the general buzz of the UNESCO World Heritage town. It’s location also means there are plenty of unobstructed views of the hills and rural countryside that surround Luang Prabang.

Twenty rooms and four suites are spread across five buildings, each named after famous explorers and decorated in period-French style, staying true to the colonial charm of the hotel. Set within extensive tropical gardens, the rooms are light and spacious with wood, white linens and classy finishing touches. The rooms are immaculately looked after and are all well-appointed.
