Luang Say Residence , Luang Prabang Laos, Luang Prabang and The North
This superb luxury hotel is in a lovely peaceful spot just outside of town and oozes stylish French-colonial charm.
You are sure for an opulent and comfortable stay at the Luang Say Residence, with stylish public areas including a 1930’s-style foyer, bar, library and traditional smoking room. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, and in particular we highly recommend a drink in the 1861 bar which feels just like a quaint French bistro. La Belle Epoque restaurant serves simple yet delicious food from around Southeast Asia and has a lovely veranda that looks out over the hotel grounds.
There is also a large swimming pool which is a lovely space to relax and cool off after a day of exploring Luang Prabang. The hotel itself is located about 5 minutes away from downtown Luang Prabang, so it’s a real oasis of calm yet never too far from restaurants, cultural sites and the general buzz of the UNESCO World Heritage town. It’s location also means there are plenty of un-obstructed views of the hills and rural countryside that surround Luang Prabang.
20 rooms and 4 suites are spread across 5 buildings, each named after famous explorers and decorated in period-French style, staying true to the colonial charm of the hotel. Set within large tropical gardens, the rooms are light and spacious with wood, white linens and classy finishing touches. The rooms are immaculately looked after and are all well-appointed.
This hotel is part of a well-known hotelier and cruise company in Laos that has an excellent reputation for service. It’s an ideal choice for those who love the French-colonial vibe of Laos and looking for comfort, style and historic charm all in one.

Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.

I wanted to write to thank you for the enormous effort you put in to creating our itinerary and for managing to salvage a holiday out of the snow debacle for us. It must have been the weekend from hell for you, but somehow, you managed to get us in to Laos and we didn’t feel like we had missed too much of the sights. I don’t know how you pulled it off, there was evidently a lot of extra work involved for you, so flippin’ well done.
