Sanctuary, Luang Prabang

The Sanctuary is a 30 room hotel that is in a great location a few minutes walk from Luang Prabang’s famous night market and temples. Rooms are located around a pretty garden with a small lake in the middle, creating a peaceful base for your time in the UNESCO World Heritage town.

The rooms are simply furnished and designed but clean and well maintained with communal balconies overlooking the garden and good size bathrooms. The deluxe rooms are larger than the lead in the superior category and have bathtubs and a separate shower.

The service and staff are local and friendly, and although there are some minor quirks in this area, it does not significantly take away from the overall charm. There is an indoor and outdoor restaurant, with the latter on a terrace alongside the pond, creating a lovely setting in which to have your breakfast.

There are very few facilities within the hotel, but as you are so close to town, this does not matter. The hotel is well designed, and while the rooms may not be as stylish as some of those in similar hotels on the edge of the town, the location cannot be rivalled so this is an excellent base for those looking to be in the heart of the action without spending too much.
