A Day In Ipoh,
Malaysia, Western Malaysia
Info : A Day In Ipoh
You'll start the day with one of the oldest coffee shops in Ipoh, started by two Hainanese brothers in 1937, serving the bitter white coffee that Ipoh is renowned for, try this Ipoh icon accompanied by Kava (coconut jam) spread toast to balance the bitterness.
Ipoh was significant as a tin mining town in the 1920’s so there will time to learn a little about that and to visit the iconic former railway station before exploring the recently revived charismatic alleyways. A renaissance is taking place in Ipoh with stylish cafes springing up and Panglima Lane better known as Concubine Lane is a favourite for photographers.
Sampling one of the traditional favourites for lunch– Bean Sprouts Chicken is a must. It is said that the limestone in the area ensures the crunchiest and most succulent bean sprouts.
After lunch you’ll travel to the Perak Tong Cave Temple. Created in 1926 by a local Chinese couple this beautiful temple features brightly coloured murals as well as a large standing Buddha -a serene experience.
