Explore the culture, architecture and food of Kuala Lumpur then travel overland stopping to explore The Cameron Highlands and Taman Negara Rainforest before enjoying two different beach experiences on and off the east coast of Malaysia.

Highlights include

  • Sampling traditional curry laksa in Kuala Lumpur
  • Sip locally produced tea in the cooler Cameron Highlands
  • Spot rare animals and the world's largest flower in Taman Negara
  • Splash in the crystal clear waters of the serene Perhentian Islands

As with all of our suggested itineraries, we can tailor-make your holiday to suit your budget, style and expectations. Find out about our exclusive ‘Journey Planner’ here.

Day 1  Depart The UK

Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur

Days 2 - 4  Kuala Lumpur    Explore the contrasts of the city

During your stay in Kuala Lumpur, you'll join your guide to explore the local markets, learn about the varied architecture and taste the famously delicious cuisine. There will be plenty of time to relax to and enjoy the facilities and ambience of your colonial style hotel.

Days 5 & 6 Cameron Highlands     tea in a cooler climate

From Kuala Lumpur, you'll travel into the hills with your guide to explore the Cameron Highland region; the cooler climate made it a favorite retreat for the British in the colonial era.  You'll have time to visit a tea factory and learn about the tea-making process, to explore the local organic strawberry farms and perhaps to take one of the hiking trails.

Days 7 & 8 Taman Negara   A tropical rainforest adventure

It's around a 3-hour drive from The Cameron Highlands to Taman Negara Rainforest, a sprawling jungle wilderness that is home to elephants, tigers, rhinos and leopards. Sightings of the big mammals are rare, but you’ll come across monkeys, lizards, birds and an array of plant life.

On arrival at the park, travel upriver by boat to your resort, followed by an evening jungle walk with a ranger.  The next day you'll explore in more depth: canopy trails are a popular way to experience Taman Negara as they offer a great way to see wildlife and flora such as Rafflesia (the world’s largest flower) with ease. The popularity of these trails means they can be busy at certain times so we will also arrange guided treks or longtail riverboat cruise to take you deeper into the jungle, away from the beaten track.

Days 9-11 Tanjong Jara    Relax at a stylish beach hotel

Travel by road with your guide from Taman Negara to Tanjong Jara on the east coast.  After a week exploring the city, hills and jungle, it's time for a bit of R&R in an upmarket resort.

Tanjong Jara had the best of both worlds: luxurious surroundings by the beach with the option to explore as well.  If the mood takes you, the resort can arrange waterfall treks and cycle tours to nearby towns where you can get a taste of authentic Malay life.

Day 12-15 TioMAN ISLAND   tropical island experience

Venture further down the east coast and off the mainland to the beautiful Tioman Island for a 4-night stay at Japamala. The idyllic tropical islands offer excellent snorkelling and a relaxed place to swim and explore. A fantastic place to spend the last few days of your holiday.

Day 16 Fly Home

Today you transfer to Singapore or KL  for your flight home.

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, two-week tip-inclusive holidays start from roughly £4,000 per adult. We offer substantial child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
