Don't miss out on any of Malaysia’s main highlights but explore off-the-beaten-track too. In addition to getting under the skin of “KL”, Penang and The Cameron Highlands, you’ll discover the royal capital Kuala Kangsar, spend time in a rural homestay and discover exotic flora and fauna in Belum Rainforest. Following your tour of Peninsular Malaysia, you'll spend time on Langkawi enjoying Malaysia's other highlight - its beaches.

 Highlights include

  • Getting absorbed in KL’s contrasts. From the modern Petronas Towers to historic colonial buildings, from English high tea to Indian street snacks
  • Experiencing traditional Malay life at a homestay near Kuala Kangsar
  • Marvelling at the panoramic views whilst sipping local tea in the Cameron Highlands
  • Exploring ancient Belum rainforest with its birds, butterflies and extraordinary flora
  • Discovering the unique street art, fascinating architecture and delicious food of Penang
  • Relaxing on the beautiful shores of Langkawi

As with all of our suggested itineraries, we can tailor-make your holiday to suit your budget, style and expectations. Find out about our exclusive ‘Journey Planner’ here.

Day 1 Depart The UK

Depart the UK on your overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Day 2 & 3 Kuala Lumpur

On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Your driver will transfer you to central Kuala Lumpur for a two-night stay. While in the city, you will enjoy a guided walking tour of KL’s many highlights with the chance to sample some of its fantastic street food.

Day 4 & 5 Cameron Highlands

You’ll be driven north of Kuala Lumpur to venture into the hills towards the plantations of the Cameron Highlands.

Tea lovers will enjoy exploring the plantations and taking a tasting tour or merely sampling a cup as part of a delicious afternoon tea.  There is a chance to go on treks and walk past waterfalls and through quaint villages here too.

Days 6 & 7 Homestay

Your driver will transfer you back down through the hills towards the beautiful royal river city of Kuala Kangsar, the town boasts one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia, and there will also be time to view the Sultan's palace.

Thirty minutes south of the city is Lake Cendorah, and here you will enjoy a unique experience at a two-night homestay. You’ll be guests of a Malay family who will show you their local village as you hear about their traditions. While exploring the surrounding countryside, there is a chance to learn about local medicinal plants and their uses, rubber tapping, and the importance of this industry to the village. You’ll have the opportunity to take a swim in a nearby waterfall, go kayaking or swimming on the lake or just sit back with a book.

In the evenings, you can watch a cooking demonstration based on cuisine from the north of Malaysia, utilizing herbs seen in the village gardens and, depending on the catch, fish from the lake.

Days 8 & 9 Belum Rainforest

Continue your adventure towards Belum National Park. En route, there is time to stop at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site of Lenggong Valley and for lunch. Then on to Belum, a 130 million-year-old jungle that is home to an enormous variety of wildlife, birds, butterflies, flowers, and trees.

Spend your time in the national park exploring the jungle by foot and by boat with an indigenous guide. Highlights include visiting the site of one of the three species of Rafflesia, the world's largest flower (if in season), plus local waterfalls, and trekking into the jungle while learning about the history of the area and its wildlife. Elephants, rhinoceroses, deer, otters, and tarsiers, to name a few, still exist in these jungles, but are rarely seen. There is also a night walk where you’ll catch a glimpse of the nocturnal side of life.

Days 10-12 Penang

Today you travel west by road from Belum towards the island of Penang. Before reaching the island by a road bridge, you’ll stop to explore Bujang Valley, a sprawling historical site with many stupas and temples of the Hindu and Buddhist era spanning from the 3rd to 13th centuries.

You’ll spend three days in Penang exploring the street art, discovering the eclectic and delicious food, and getting an idea of why UNESCO awarded Penang a World Heritage listing in 2008.

A walking tour of Penang will be customized to suit your interests and fitness level and will include all the main architectural sites as well as spots where local artisans still ply their trade.  Of course there will be time to experience some of Penang’s best eating locations where popular local dishes are as varied as Chinese Dim Sum and Bengali bread.  How such dishes became integrated into typical Malaysian fare is an account of the island's history.

Days 13- 16 Langkawi

You can choose whether to travel to Langkawi by ferry or flight. The flight is 35 minutes (plus check in and baggage collection), and the ferry is around 2.5 hours. Your beach holiday then begins on Langkawi Island, the largest in a beautiful and exotic archipelago of 104 islands. After transferring to your resort, you’ll have four days to spend as you wish, relaxing at the resort, or exploring the island.

 Day 17 Fly Home

Depart Langkawi for your flight back to the UK

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, two-week tip-inclusive holidays start from roughly £4,000 per adult. We offer substantial child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
