This sprawling resort is hidden in the mountains on Langkawi. The hotel has spa facilities and a range of stilted chalets either over the water or in the rainforest. Situated on the UNESCO World Geopark, Berjaya is a winning combination of tranquil and hidden natural surroundings, splendid chalets and suites, and friendly service.
The Langkawi archipelago is made up of 99 islands with mountain ranges and forests that are around 550 million years old. The World Geopark is a very special ancient place, and you can enjoy a mangrove tour by boat to see the highlights. The diving nearby is exceptional, and there are parks, markets, and stunning falls and forest reserves. But if you’d rather not leave the resort there is still plenty to keep you occupied.
The large variety of suites and chalets are good quality. In particular, the sumptuous suites on the water come with their own living hall and dining area. Don’t overlook the rainforest chalets though, which are surrounded by lush green jungle and feature rustic furnishing with modern accents.
This is a great resort but it is also large and thus can be a little complicated to get around. But if you’ve got time to get to know the place, come here for the ambience. It is superb.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
