Set in 15 acres of lush tropical gardens off Singapore’s famous Orchard Road, The Shangri La is unique in offering what feels like a deluxe beach resort in a prime city-centre location.
The hotel has 750 rooms spread across three wings with an attractive central pool, a range of restaurants and extensive facilities such as a spa and even a tennis court. The combination of location and leisure facilities make it a great place to recover from jet lag and acclimatise to the time difference before beginning one of our tours.
The three wings comprise Tower Wing, Garden Wing and Valley Wing. Each wing has a range of room types, all are deluxe, but the valley wing is the most exclusive wing with luxurious rooms and suites.
The Shangri La is particularly good for families as it has rooms that interconnect as well as a children’s pool, however, it is a sprawling resort it isn’t so family-focused that couples should avoid it. Essentially it will suit most visitors to Singapore.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
