A small and more intimate 3 day boat cruise between Mandalay and Bagan (or vice versa), Princess Royal has just 7 cabins on board. This means you’ll get personal attention and boutique service whilst exploring the lovely countryside between Mandalay and Bagan.
In addition to the 3 day scheduled departures, the Princess Royal can be chartered in its entirety for up to 7 days.
Beginning in magical Mandalay or Bagan, the scheduled cruise covers just over 200 kilometres along the picturesque Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River, stopping in cultural Yandabo village with its flourishing pottery trade. Enjoy a peaceful overnight stop before arriving in Bagan or Mandalay, complete with a sunset cocktail and a great evening meal.
The cabins have extra natural light and views from both sides of the deck. Plus a private balcony, of course, which isn’t always guaranteed with other providers. Six standard sized rooms on the main deck and one luxury room on the upper deck are fitted out with lovely private bathrooms and showers, twin or double beds and the traditional teak furnishings that are so revered in Myanmar. The sun deck features a comfy lounge and bar, and the catering at mealtimes covers all manner of European and Asian palates with flair.
This is the cruise to take if you’re short on time and prefer a smaller, quality river boat experience.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
