Chauktatgyi Paya and Reclining Buddha, Yangon

This private afternoon tour covers some of Yangon’s richest and most beautiful religious and cultural sights. Begin by visiting the stunning Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda with its enormous 65-metre long reclining Buddha, its serene countenance adorned with a beautiful jewel-encrusted crown. Continue on to the Kaba Aye Pagoda complex, a newer construction from 1952 with a 36-metre high stupa. Right next door, the Maha Pasana Guha (also known as the Great Cave) once hosted the 6th Buddhist council, a symbolic nod to the first Buddhist council that met following Buddha’s passing into Nirvana 2.5 millennia ago.
