The fascinating ancient architectural zone in Bagan lends itself to a leisurely guided cycling tour between the many temples, with glimpses of the Ayeyarwady River along the way. Over approximately four hours, you’ll cover between 12 and 18 kilometres with a knowledgeable guide. Take in the magical atmosphere and visit architectural treasures such as the towering Thatbyinnyu Temple, the Disney-esque Anana Temple next door, the Dhammayangyi Temple with its brutal history, and of course, the Shwesandaw Pagoda, best experienced at sunset. With over 4,000 temples within a 30 kilometre radius, there are certainly plenty of sites to choose from.
