Myanmar, Yangon and Around
Info : Kandawgyi Palace
This large hotel boasts one of the best locations in Yangon, located right on the edge of the Royal Lake and a mere 15 minute walk from the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. It’s an excellent hotel for first time visitors to Yangon as you are not too far from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet have the peace and quiet of the lake to escape to at the end of the day.
Rooms are simple, comfortable and well-appointed with modern design and a good range of amenities, with the lake view deluxe rooms being among our favourite for their stunning balcony views. After breakfast on the veranda overlooking the glittering pagoda you can take a stroll along the waterfront; a very popular activity for all of our guests that stay here. After a day of exploring the busy capital you can cool off in the riverside swimming pool or take advantage of the hotel’s massage and spa facilities. The café and restaurants generally serve good food but are a little pricey, however that isn’t a problem with so many dining options close by in the centre of town.
A fantastic base for exploring Yangon, this hotel has all the services and conveniences one might need for either a few nights introduction to Burma as much as a one night stopover on your way back home.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
Our guide Vivienne told us the stories behind things, rather than reeling of facts and figures. brought inle lake and surrounding cultures to life for us. And on the last day she organised a free late check out for us on account of me being pregnant, which I really appreciated. We felt she had really done her homework on us and also all the places we visited.
