Keng Tung (Kyaing Tong) is a lively town in the Shan state and a popular base for visiting tribal villages in the hills. This hotel manages to be quiet even though it is relatively central. Its facilities are decent, and the rooms are clean. The Princess Hotel might lack “sleek modern style”, but it is convenient, adequate and the best option in the region.
The rooms here are basic and clean. Choose from a standard room on a lower level or a superior room on a higher floor with a bit more natural light. Keep in mind that there is no elevator: rooms on the upper floor can only be accessed by stairs. All rooms are air-conditioned. The standard rooms have separate hallway bathrooms, and the superior rooms have ensuite bathrooms. Electricity might not always be available through the night, but that’s the norm in the area, and you will at least be able to enjoy a hot shower.
You won’t find too many mod-cons or creature comforts here, but you’ll have a decent place to rest your weary head in this remote and beautiful part of the world.
