Info : Sule Shangri-La
Formerly known as the Traders Hotel in Yangon, the Sule Shangri-La is a high-rise hotel in the very centre of Yangon; it is on the same street as the main market. The interiors are all tasteful and colonial in style with a grand lobby complete with chandeliers, sweeping staircase and classy Asian-style finishes. Whats more, being high-up affords unbeatable views of the bustling capital city, over the centre of town but also across to Kandawgyi lake and the Shwedagon Pagoda. The 5th floor has a good swimming pool and gym as well as an outdoor jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There are 484 guest rooms that are all spacious and very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The breakfast is very good and there is a nice central atrium for relaxing. The staff are all very friendly and speak some of the best English you will find in Yangon.
Our guide told us the stories behind things, rather than reeling of facts and figures. She brought Inle Lake and the surrounding cultures to life for us. And on the last day she organised a free late check out for us which I really appreciated. We felt she had really done her homework on us and also on all the places we visited.
