A Full Day Around Jebel Samhan, Salalah

Spend a full day exploring the highlights of the Dhofar mountain range by 4x4. Firstly driving through the village of Taqa, stop for an excellent photo opportunity at the Taqah Plateau, taking in the panoramic views of the waves and cliffs along the coastline. The landscape changes to emerald green as you drive to Wadi Darbat. Have a wander around the Wadi bed, spotting camels, cattle and goats living in the fields. If you’re here during the monsoon season, you can witness the waterfall in full swing, gushing down into the surrounding lakes.

Stop at Tawi Attair to take in one of the world’s largest sinkholes, sitting deep into the earth at 211m and 150m in diameter, referred to as the ‘Well of Birds’ who live inside. Continue further into the mountains to take in the Grand Canyon of Dhofar at a plateau standing around 1,700m. Look out to the vast expanse that is the Qara mountain range, as well as the eastern coastline.
