This is a luxurious family adventure through Sri Lanka, designed so you can discover the best of the island in style with travel times minimised. The journey includes scenic landscapes and unique excursions that your family will love experiencing together. Travel is a combination of chauffeur-guided and scenic seaplane flights, the latter is a fantastic way to get an aerial view of the island and a great way to minimise road travel time! Accommodation is in top-notch, family-friendly properties throughout.

Highlights Include:

  • Explore rural villages close to Sigiriya rock fortress and get a glimpse of a side of Sri Lanka other tourists pass by

  • Swap stories in your family cocoon suite at your tented lodge, after a day of excitement spotting wildlife on safari with your naturalist guide

  • Four nights in a luxurious resort on the south coast overlooking the ocean

  • Fantastic aerial views as you travel cross country by seaplane

As with all our holidays, this itinerary is just a starting point. We can tailor it completely to suit your budget, pace, and style. To find out more about how this suggested itinerary could inspire your family holiday, call us today.

DAY 1  DEPART UK

Depart the UK on your flight to Colombo.

DAYS 2 & 3  RURAL GAMPAHA

Your chauffeur-guide will meet you on arrival and transfer you just a short drive away to your secluded boutique hotel for a two-night stay. The peaceful Sri Lankan countryside is a great place to ease into the holiday, with plenty to keep children occupied too. Explore nearby temples, the local botanical gardens or take a leisurely boat trip along the canal.

DAYS 4 - 6  CULTURAL TRIANGLE

Travel with your driver and guide up to the Cultural Triangle where you have three days to discover its ancient cities, interact with locals and get an insight into rural Sri Lankan life. Explore the backroads of Polonnaruwa on a cycling tour, beat the crowds with an early climb up the magnificent Sigiriya rock fortress and meet the locals who live in the surrounding countryside villages, learning how they farm on our signature off-the-beaten-track experience.

DAYS 7 - 9  KANDY

Travel south to the beautiful rolling hills around Kandy for your three-night stay in an attractive historic manor house away. Beyond the more well-known  Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and the sacred Temple of the Tooth, Kandy is surrounded by lush countryside and makes an excellent base for some outdoor adventures.

DAYS 10 & 11  YALA NATIONAL PARK

You will be transferred to Kandy airport today to board your scenic seaplane flight to Hambantota, before driving to your luxury lodge on the outskirts of Yala National Park.

During your stay you’ll venture into the park on safari drives with a local naturalist looking for birdlife and game such as leopards, elephants, buffalos, and wild boar.

The lodge itself is truly special and part of the experience too- surrounded by bushland, you're surrounded by nature even when you're not on safari. The lodge faces out to the ocean with great facilities and meals. Beyond the daily safaris, there are plenty of activities, such as bush walks and cultural tours.

DAYS 12 - 15  Tangalle

After a final sunrise safari, you’ll journey around two hours to a luxury resort overlooking the beach on the south coast. Spend three full days here, with many activities and quality facilities to keep all ages entertained. Swim in the pool, wander along the beach at sunrise, take a surf or yoga lesson and enjoy the many dining options.

DAY 16  FLY HOME

Your driver will transport you to Colombo airport to depart on your flight back to the UK.

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, two-week tip-inclusive holidays start from roughly £4,000 per adult. We offer substantial child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
