Explore Sri Lanka with immersive local experiences and wilderness adventures combined with luxury hotel stays.

This itinerary is all about balancing our cultural and outdoor adventures with exceptional hotels. Ideal for people who love luxury accommodation but don’t like to end up in could-be-anywhere hotels where they feel cut off from the destination. Plenty of time to enjoy a range of carefully crafted experiences without missing out on the relaxation and quality that each unique hotel offers.

Highlights include:

  • A scenic seaplane journey into the Cultural Triangle to cut driving times, giving you more time to spend enjoying the area and your hotel
  • Sipping a G&T as the sun goes down at one of the only hotels with direct views of Sigiriya Rock.
  • Board one of the most scenic train rides in the world, ambling past tea plantations and lush forested hills
  • Stay in a luxury tented camp in a rarely visited part of the Sri Lankan wilderness.
  • Spend time relaxing in a boutique hotel on the south coast, spending a day cruising down the Kapu Ela river and exploring this remote area by tuk-tuk

As with all our holidays, this itinerary is just a starting point. We can tailor it completely to suit your budget, pace, and style. To find out more about how this suggested itinerary could inspire your holiday, call us today.

DAY 1  DEPART UK

Depart the UK on your flight to Colombo.

DAYS 2 & 3  COLOMBO

Your chauffeur-guide will meet you on arrival at Colombo airport and transfer you to your boutique hotel in the city where you will be for a two-night stay. Spend the rest of your first day relaxing before embarking on a walking and tuk-tuk tour the following morning as your guide reveals the colonial heart of the city to you.

DAYS 4 - 6  WATER GARDEN SIGIRIYA

You will be transferred to Colombo airport to board your seaplane to the Cultural Triangle, a scenic flight of just 30 minutes. With three days to explore the area, your guide will show you the ancient cities, and there will be a chance to engage with the locals who live in surrounding countryside villages. Accommodation is at Water Garden Sigiriya, one of the only hotels with direct views of Sigiriya, a great place to sit back with a G&T as the sun goes down.

DAYS 7 - 9  TEA TRAILS

Embark on a memorable, scenic train ride from Kandy into Hatton, ambling along, passing by beautiful tea clad hills. Your stay is in a luxurious bungalow, at Tea Trails, stunning views and impeccable service in an idyllic spot. Spend your time walking in the plantations, visit a working tea factory or simply relaxing in this beautiful part of Sri Lanka. During your stay, you’ll taste some incredible food, from some of the best rice and curry in Sri Lanka to afternoon tea made from freshly picked leaves.

DAYS 10 & 11  AHASPOKUNA

Your chauffeur-guide will transfer you to Belihuloya a rarely visited part of the Sri Lankan wilderness where you’ll stay two nights in a luxury tented camp. It’s a wonderful location to enjoy shorter, and longer bushwalks through the forest around the camp, take a yoga or cooking class or head down to the lake and relax in this beautifully remote setting.

DAYS 12 - 14  GALLE

For the last part of your holiday, you’ll travel south for a three-night stay in a lovely boutique hotel in the hills above Galle.  This gorgeous haven is stylish as well as peaceful. Spend a day cruising down the Kapu Ela River through canals and past small communities before taking a tuk-tuk ride around this remote area, getting a feel for how the locals live.

DAY 15  FLY HOME

Your driver will transport you to Colombo airport to depart on your flight back to the UK.

As every holiday is unique to you, prices vary. To give you an indication, two-week tip-inclusive holidays start from roughly £4,000 per adult. We offer substantial child and seasonal discounts. You can read our ultimate guide to holiday costs in Asia for more in-depth information.
