Day-to-Day Itinerary : Wild Sri Lanka

Depart the UK for Colombo, Sri Lanka.

DAY 2 Negombo

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Negombo where you will spend your first night. Negombo is not the finest place in Sri Lanka, but it's a great spot for sea food and for relaxing into your holiday.

DAYS 3-4 sinharaja rainforest

Transfer to the highly unusual Boulder Garden resort just outside the Sinharaja Rainforest. If you're keen you might like to pop into the rainforest on your first afternoon, though the hotel itself is interesting enough and has a great rock pool. You might like to conserve your energy for a full day trek in the park the next day. The length of the walk can be tailored to suit - some might prefer a proper hike, whilst others will want to take their time for the wildlife spotting.

DAY 5 & 6 uda walawe national park

Transfer today from Sinharaja to Uda Walawe National Park. It's a very rural drive, not far as the crow flies, but you may wish to explore on route as the road quality is patchy, but the scenery is fantastic.

The next day your chauffeur guide will pick you up at 5am and take you into Uda Walawe today for a morning safari and a chance to see some of the 400 or so elephants in the park as well as the toque monkeys, grey langur, spotted deer, wild pig and sambar.

In the afternoon there is a chance to visit the ethical and well run elephant transit camp just by the gates to the park proper.

DAYS 7 & 8 treetops jungle lodge

The beauty of Treetops is that the all the excursions are led on foot, at whatever time suits you. Walk with the trackers to local spots where elephants often come to bath and take an early morning birdwalk just after sunrise. Walk and relax and enjoy the remote location.

There is also a full day safari included to Yala National Park. Yala is famous for its leopards, but it also gets very busy, so Treetops superb trackers will do their best to ensure you have excellent clear sightings throughout your day.

DAYS 9 - 11 gal oya national park

Journey today from Yala to Gal Oya, home to Sri Lanka's largest lake and thousands of birds. It's probably Sri Lanka's best kept wildlife secret; not only a fantastic place to enjoy off the beaten track location, but the only place in Sri LAnka where you can take a boat safari.  You'll spend your days enjoying the superb eco lodge here, walking, taking safaris into the park and also learning a little about the local indigenous veddha tribe.

 DAYS 12 – 16 pasikudah

Your chauffeur guide will drive you down to Pasikudah Bay where a luxury hotel and a perfect sandy bay awaits. It's a great spot for a well earned rest. Intrepid explorers may wish to explore the nearby town of Batticoloa.

Day 17 colombo

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to nearby Batticoloa Airfield for your short seaplane flight to Colombo. Once there, you'll be met, taken to your hotel for enjoying one of our 'urban safaris' and an excellent meal.

DAY 18 fly home

Sadly, today it's time to fly home.
