Sri Lanka, South West Beaches
Info : Arabella
This is a stylish and modern boutique villa in an ideal beachfront location, offering comfortable and attractive accommodation with excellent facilities – all within a short distance of Galle Fort.
Arabella is a relaxing retreat that evokes the traditional Sri Lankan Tropical Bawa style of architecture. The villa has high ceilings, whitewashed walls and lovely façade with French-style window shutters and balconies. The décor is simple but the design features are lovely with comfy seating areas, modern bathrooms, comfortable rooms and plenty of light throughout. Walk across the well-kept lawn and you will reach the beach, which is very quiet and peaceful where you can sometimes see local fishermen in the mornings. There is also a nice pool with sun loungers. There are a total of four bedrooms here, three with king beds and a bunk room all with en-suite bathrooms.
Fully staffed, the warm here is always welcome and the chef is fantastic – serving delicious, fresh and varied meals every day. There’s a DVD library, massage and spa services available and air conditioning throughout. All of this is within a short tuk-tuk ride from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort, where there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and bars to be explored.
This elegant villa is a great option for families and groups travelling together, with the option to book out the whole resort. For all others, it makes for a lovely peaceful spot to unwind on the south coast of Sri Lanka.
Villa - The 'Villa' is a similar concept to the 'holiday home' in Europe, with some key differences. Our villas in Asia are always fully staffed with cooking and service provided for you. Staff will generally cook meals to your specification and purchase food and drink for you at cost price. They are generally pretty smart and luxurious too and feel in many ways like a small private hotel. Nonetheless, your villa is still effectively a home and therefore you cannot expect the same level of training, English speaking or slickness that you might expect from a hotel at a similar cost. As the owners are not generally holiday professionals we cannot guarantee the quality of a villa matches expectations in a way we can with hotels. That said, the personal local touch means villas are generally much more friendly and interactive than hotels and have much to recommend them. The privacy and space makes them wonderful for families, groups of friends or couples looking for privacy and relaxation.

All the hotels were excellent - lovely rooms, really friendly staff and some great Sri Lankan food, especially at Ulagalla, Kandy House and Tea Trails.
