Blue Waters, Wadduwa Sri Lanka, South West Beaches
The Blue Waters is a quality mid-range hotel on Sri Lanka's west coast. The hotel is large, yet the overall sense is gentle and welcoming. Sunlight falls serenely between the pillars, mixing with the view of the Indian Ocean and the warm swimming pool through the front. Attractive even in a heavy monsoon, the hotel is best seen as the sun falls. A soft cool atmosphere pervades, unusual in a 5* hotel of this size, but perhaps characteristic of the architect, Geoffrey Bawa.
The service is warm and friendly, the food excellent, both from the buffet and a la carte. The rooms are well designed and all command beautiful views of the sea. The hotel grounds tend to empty at sunset as the guests creep back to their rooms to enjoy the sunset from their balconies. The hotel is kept in excellent condition, which given the soft colours used, must mean constant vigilance against the sub tropical dust.
The hotel is a maximum two hours from the international airport, which given the time taken to move anywhere in Sri Lanka, counts as very close. Various water-sports are available here and trips inland and further down the south coast are easily arranged. Children are very welcome here and will enjoy the fantastic pool.

"Our driver Sri Murali could not be faulted, he couldn't have done more for us. He made the whole experience so easy and so interesting. So much so that I will be looking to book my parents to go to Sri Lanka and when I do I will be requesting Murali."
